FAIDO AND CASCATA PIUMOGNA – Trips from Lugano

FAIDO AND CASCATA PIUMOGNA – Trips from Lugano

Faido, a hamlet nestled in a green conca in the centre of the Leventina valley, is located on Europe’s most important railway and road axis and less than an hour’s drive from Lugano.

The waterfall is a five-minute walk away, passing the river and turning right. Once again, the river begins with a bridge, until in a few minutes you arrive at signs indicating the ascent to the top of the waterfall (take and climb to the left). In about ten minutes you arrive at the beautiful stone bridge that allows you to cross the Piumogna (which is by the way the largest tributary of Ticino).

Nowadays the real treasure of Faido is given by the natural resources present in the territory. The Piumogna Falls is an extraordinary sight easily accessible both on foot from the train station and by car. The mountains that crown the village are also very impressive. The Pizzo Pettine, the Pizzo Molare, the Pizzo Forno and of course Carì, a resort made famous by the presence of a sunny ski area, can be chosen as an ideal destination for fantastic alpine excursions.
