VERZASCA VALLEY: Green waters in the Ticino mountains

The Verzasca Valley is a Swiss valley in Canton Ticino. It belongs to the district of Locarno and comprises the municipalities of Mergoscia and Verzasca.

It is an idyllic place set in an impressive mountain landscape, a wild, mountainous corner with steep slopes and countless waterfalls.

At Lavertezzo it flows under the picturesque double Ponte dei Salti: it is here, alongside the Verzasca River, that you will find comfortable stone beds, natural whirlpools and, on the Sentierone per Brione, 17 works of art.

NATURE FOR FAMILIES

From the Sentiero delle Leggende (Path of Legends) to the huge BoBosco chestnut wood marbles track, from barbecue areas to beautiful bathing areas, there is everything here for a successful family adventure.

A timeless classic of the Verzasca Valley is the Sentierone, which runs through the entire valley from Tenero to Sonogno.

SPORT

The numerous peaks with views of the Valais and Bernese Alps, and the passes leading to the adjacent valleys, make the Verzasca Valley a popular place for trekkers.

The most courageous can experience a day full of explosive emotions by performing the world’s craziest jump: a 220 m high rubber band jump from the Verzasca dam, which James Bond himself performed in the film Goldeneye, making this place world famou

SONOGNO

Sonogno, the last village in the Verzasca Valley, is distinguished by its well-preserved village centre with characteristic houses and lanes. On the small square there is a typical Verzasca house, the former Genardini house, which now houses the Verzasca Valley Museum. In the warmer months, from May to October, a market is organised in the village square with stalls selling local handicrafts and gastronomic products.

Explore a valley that is both impervious and welcoming.
Let yourself be surprised by its unspoilt nature, authentic villages and deep-rooted, ancient traditions.
